A sympathetically restored Victorian neo-gothic Castle set in open
farmland and handy for the A66. Bedrooms have stylish period furniture,
some walk-in wardrobes are converted turrets! There are opulent
lounges and dinner is served around a huge oak dining table. Excellent
use is made of local produce on the set menu, and a full residential
licence allows for a modest selection of wines.

The Kings Head Hotel faces onto a "duck-busy"
beck and offers comfortable accommodation in en-suite bedrooms,
all with excellent outlooks. The menu is extremely varied with something
to suit all tastes, offering pheasant, venison, always a roast of
the day, steak cooked on a charcoal grill, home cooked pizza's and
a lot more. There is a games room with pool table, dominoes and
darts. The lounge bar has comfortable seating and in the cooler
months, a warm open fire. The candle-lit restaurant has seating
for up to 50. The hotel has a family feel about it and walkers form
the nearby fells are always welcome. Outside, the beer garden runs
alongside the beck. Residents have use of the village tennis courts
and bowling green and nearby there are excellent opportunities for
golf, horse riding, fishing and mountain bike hire . |
